If you need help to obtain a duplicate title in California, this short guide will show you everything you need to know.

  1. If your vehicle is currently titled in the state of California, the owner can follow one of these steps:

    1. Go online and complete your California Duplicate Title Application REG 227.

    2. Choose one of the following options:

      • Bring your California Duplicate Title Application to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

        • Estimated time of delivery: 2-6 weeks
        • Cost for duplicate: $20.00 If we purchase/pickup your vehicle, we will reimburse you for your $20.00 duplicate title fee!
      • Mail your California Duplicate Title Application to:

  • Estimated time of delivery: 2-6 weeks
  • Cost for duplicate: $20.00 If we purchase/pickup your vehicle, we will reimburse you for your $20.00 duplicate title fee!
